Tyger Auto Fender Flares Review – Great Until One Flew Off
I had a mostly great experience with the Tyger Auto Fender Flares (TG-FF6C4218) on my Chevy Silverado, but unfortunately, one major issue dampened my enthusiasm. The fit and finish of these flares were impressive right out of the box. The fine-textured, paintable surface gave them a clean, factory-style look, and installation was straightforward with all the necessary hardware included. They fit snugly, and I was happy they enhanced the truck’s appearance while providing extra protection.Mostly, these flares held up well against daily driving conditions. They stayed secure through rain, dirt roads, and normal highway speeds—until one of them didn’t.Unfortunately, one front fender flare blew off while driving down the highway. That was disappointing, but what made it worse was the fact that Tyger doesn’t sell individual replacements—you have to buy an entire four-piece kit just to replace one flare. Since I only needed one, I wasn’t willing to spend the extra money on a full set. Instead, I removed both front flares and kept the rear ones, which have held up perfectly.

2002 Silverado perfect fit (after fine tuning mounting holes with file/Dremel)
Couldn't ask for a better fit on my 2002 Silverado, but some adjustments were needed. These fit perfectly into the wheel openings, no slop or gaps, snug. A person could stop right here and just screw them in with a set of stainless screws as you would with a set of mud flaps and forget the buttons. (In the end if the buttons fail, this will be my permanent fix). And be done with it.They should be pulled tight to the top of the wheel opening, then visually find which vertical button will hold it in place tightly at the top. My top buttons did not line up and needed to be slotted slightly so the hole in the flare would match the hole in the fender. This was the same on all four flares. The top two holes did not match without a bit of adjustment. Bear in mind this is also an opportunity to put inward pressure on the flare for a tighter fit while checking how much and in which direction the new hole placement should go. This will keep the flare tight to the body without any gaps.I used my Dremel with a high speed cutter bit #194 on low speed to slot the upper mounting holes in the flare roughly 1/2 of the hole diameter and slightly angled to the outside (to increase tension and close any gaps or looseness). I had a single plastic pin securing the flare in one of the vertical holes that fit best. The instructions suggest installing the top pins first and working down. These did not line up in my case, and required slight slotting by being roughly 1/2 of a hole off. Better to find the best vertical hole after pressing the flare tightly upward into position. The gist of this is that these flares can be fitted perfectly with only minor adjustment. As far as the buttons included, hope they survive a winter ice load but can be remedied with some stainless screws for a permanent fix.
