iSpring WSP50ARJ-BP Whole House Prefilter, Spin-Down Sediment Water Filter with Bypass, Upgraded Clear Housing, Jumbo Size, Flushable and Reusable, Touch-Screen Auto Flushing, 4 Modes, 50 Microns

I recently purchased the iSpring WSPARJ-BP automated spin-down filter - see after installation image. The item arrived in good condition with all parts securely packed. It came with a 50 micron filter which should be adequate, based on an initial two-week evaluation. I live in a rural area which is underlain by alternating beds of thin limestone and shale. Water for the house and property is drawn from a hillside spring box. So the problem was excessive silt and fine sands plugging the 4.5-inch by 20-inch string-bound Pentek water filter over a short period of time. The result was lower household water pressure and lower water faucet flow. Changing the Pentek filter element on a short schedule was both tedious and costly. I needed to improve the filter life of the Pentek filter. Over the last couple weeks I have tested the iSpring WSPARJ-BP automated spin-down filter and it seems to work properly. I left the automatic settings in their default mode. I have used the auto-push-button flush mode for testing. I am very happy with the unit. Many thanks to customer service at iSpring for their timely and professional help during installation of the unit.Pros: 1) Works as promised;2) a cost effective solution;3) a good value for the money, well built;4) helpful, responsive and professional customer service;5) fairly simple installation, no leaks encountered;6) automated and scheduled operation is easily programmed via installation instructions;7) batteries included for battery-only operation,8) capable of 110v operation, power supply included,9) extra parts are included to convert to a fully manual filter unit operation, if desired.Cons: 1) The screws included for mounting the filter to the wall are inferior grade phillips-head and are too “small-headed” for the mounting bracket holes, no washers are included;2) screws for attaching the filter head to the mounting bracket are difficult to use (think tiny short screws, tightly threaded and of the “flathead-type” design);3) the bypass handle is difficult to shift from one mode to another;4) the filter wrench can be used to help shift the bypass handle mode-to-mode but this technique is only illustrated at the seller’s website and not in the .pdf online installation/user manual;5) the plastic drain hose came permanently kinked in two places - see image (iSpring customer service replaced it immediately when notified of the issue);6) the filter body and filter head were way too tightly joined upon receipt of the unit and it was difficult to separate the two without first mounting the entire unit and wrenching it apart;7) no instructions are given regarding the filter housing rubber o-ring used to seal the unit - for example: a] do not over tighten the filter body and crush the rubber o-ring, hand tight plus 1/8 to1/4 turn is sufficient to prevent leaks and o-ring damage, b] always apply a thin layer of silicone grease on the rubber o-ring to help seal it, c] maintain the o-ring by cleaning and reapplication of silicone grease during assembly/reassembly of the filter unit, d] expected end-of-service life for the o-ring ?, e] where can I order a replacement o-ring ?;8) the current .pdf installation/user instructions, Version 01/2023, available online, are incomplete and need revision.Suggestions to iSpring:1) Replace all installation screws with hardened hex-head design for easier sturdier installation;2) coil drain hose for packaging;3) ship filter loosely fitted so customer can inspect the internals and disassemble it for easier mounting;4) update Version 01/2023 online Installation & User Manual .pdf

iSpring WSP50ARJ-BP is expensive - but very good.Before buying it I considered and bought three (3) otherpre-filters- Culligan WH-HD200-C 1"- Rusco/Vu-Flow 2" 100 Mesh- iSpring WSP-50I didn't like thme for different reasons.So I finally bought and installed iSpring WSP50ARJ-BP.Here is my summary about it:- high capacity - good for whole-house filtration.The "J" in the model means "Jumbo size".Up to 25 gallons per minute (GPM).- as water passes through the filter, the sediment.accumulates at the bottom, and can be periodically flushed out.Large size reduces the frequency of flushes.- the filter uses 50-micron filtration screen made of food-grade stainless steel.It is designed to work for a very long time.You don't have to change it.You can just back-wash it without removing it from the unit.- Flusing sediment out - you can schedule a periodic auto-flush,or you can manually flush it from time to time (based on usage).In my case I flush it once per 2 weeks (which takes few seconds).- Minimal maintenacne. Every several months you canturn the handle on top to do a back-wash for 2-3 minutess.- The handle on top can switch between 4 positions:filtration, shut-off, bypass, backwashThe handle is very stiff. To rotate it you can put a handleof the included plastic wrench on top of it to increase leverage.I spoke with Nick from iSpring and requested additional wrench (no charge).- the filter housing is transparent - easy to see inside- if you don't have electricity - you can flush it manually

I replaced a smaller spin-down filter with this iSpring WSP50ARJ-BP, and it’s been a fantastic upgrade. The jumbo size and clear housing make it easy to monitor, and the auto-flushing touch screen is a big step up in convenience. I’ve purchased several filters and systems from iSpring in the past and have always been impressed with their quality and reliability.My original well filter on our new construction was only 2” x 10” and completely inadequate. This unit handles sediment much more effectively, and I have peace of mind knowing it’s reusable and easy to maintain. Highly recommend both this filter and the iSpring brand in general.

Purchased a WSP50ARJ-BP with a 50 Micron filter in Nov 2024 and is an outstanding product that does what it was designed to do. Customer service is excellent; filter wrench broke about 6 months later and Nick was fantastic in supporting a warrantied replacement. Only feedback I would recommend for this product is replacing the plastic bypass lever / handle with a metal one (I'd be willing to pay an upcharge if there was a replacement handle). Otherwise, great product and much appreciated U.S. Company.

This product has worked well for me. The only issue that I've had is that the automatic valve started to not close all the way on its own. So I reached out to ispring and they have been very helpful and easy to work with. They are going to send me a new one. So, thank you ispring for your help
